How to enrol

Every child has the right to access quality public education in their local community.

Local intake area

If your student is living in NSW and are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident and live in our local intake area, start your journey to join our vibrant school community today. Follow these key steps:

  1. Check your eligibility: use School Finder to confirm if your address is within our local intake area.

Out of area

If your student is living in NSW and are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident and live out of area, follow these key steps:

  1. Apply online: complete our out of area expression of interest through an online enrolment application.

Temporary resident and international students program

If your child is a temporary resident or an international student, you need to:

  1. Contact an Intensive English Centre (IEC) if your student has not attended a government school in Australia. Visit IEC to find your local centre to start your enrolment process.
  2. If your student has already attended a government school in Australia you can start the enrolment process with us directly by completing the Application to enrol in a NSW government school (PDF 696KB). Then contact us for the next steps.

Interpreting and Translations

We are committed to helping you communicate with our school.

  • If you need an interpreter for a school meeting, let us know and we will arrange one where available.
  • If you do not speak or understand English well and want to contact us, call TIS National on 131 450. Ask for an interpreter in your language. The operator will connect with the school and arrange an interpreter to assist you. This service is free.

In NSW public schools, all financial contributions are voluntary. Every student has full access to the curriculum, regardless of whether contributions are made.
